How to Find Your Perfect Ring Size: A Step-by-Step Guide

Finding the perfect ring size is essential to ensure comfort and security, especially when purchasing a custom lab-grown diamond ring. Here's a simple guide to help you determine your ring size at home.

Step One: Prepare Your Materials

Prepare your materials

There are a few things you'll need to grab before you get started:

  • Thin strip of paper or a piece of string
  • Ruler or a measuring tape
  • Pen or marker

Cut your thin strip of paper or string. The strip should be about 1/2 inch wide and at least 3 inches long.

Step Two: Wrap It Around Your Finger

Wrap it around your finger

Wrap the strip of paper or string around the base of the finger where you intend to wear the ring.

Ensure it is snug but not too tight, as you want the ring to fit comfortably without slipping off.

Step Three: Mark the Overlap Point

Mark the Overlap Point

With a pen or marker, mark the point where the paper or string overlaps itself.

This marks the circumference of your finger.

Step Four: Measure the Length

Measure the Length

Lay the paper or string flat and use a ruler or measuring tape to measure the distance from the end to the marked point.

Check your measurement on our sizing chart to help you find your ring size.

Tips for Accurate Measurement:

  • Measure your finger at the end of the day when it is largest.
  • Measure your finger size multiple times to ensure accuracy.
  • Avoid measuring your fingers when they are cold, as they tend to shrink.
  • If your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger, take two separate measurements and choose a size in between

Need to figure out their ring size but not sure how? We've got you covered:

  • Borrow one of their rings (from the correct finger) and have it measured by a jeweler or use a ring sizing tool.
  • Place the ring on paper and trace the inner circle with a pencil for a jeweler to use.
  • Press the ring into a bar of soap or soft clay to capture its size.
  • While they’re asleep, wrap a string or strip of paper around their finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure it against a ruler.
  • Pretend to try on rings together as a fun activity or for another finger, but remember their preferred fit.
  • Someone close to your partner might already know or could ask subtly without raising suspicion.
  • Some jewelers have experience in guessing ring sizes based on photos or even finger proportions.
